Wollo University has started establishing relationship with international and local institutions by which it can build its human, technological and material capacity and thereby deliver quality education, research and community service. The collaboration/ project activities the University has made with various organizations/institutions this year include the following.

PACT Ethiopia

Project title: Finding Common Ground: Advancing Peaceful Resolution of Conflict through Dialogue and Training
Wollo University has signed a Memorandum of Understandingact Ethiopia in order to establish a sixteen months partnership designed to enhance mutual understanding and peaceful resolution of conflict on university campuses. The project was signed with the following objectives:
  • To impart conflict resolution skills to university-based youth and faculty.
  • To provide a platform for dialogue among university youth and with faculty and staff around issues of tolerance, reconciliation, and youth’s as well as faculty’s role in shaping Ethiopia’s future.
  • To initiate strategies with University administrators to institutionalize conflict resolution approaches on university campuses
  • To provide a platform through a radio series drama and “call in” show for Ethiopian citizens, especially youth, to discuss issues of diversity, tolerance, reconciliation, and citizen rights and responsibilities in a democratic Ethiopia.
The signing of the project has benefited students, Student Unions and other organized student group as well as key university staff.Accordingly, the first phase of the trainings was given to for 80 students on life skills and leadership skills from May 28-31, 2010. The second phase which aims at devolping peer mediation and negotiation skills of students was given to 30 students who later established a Peace Club. The skills neccesary toPeacefully resolute conflicts on University was also given to key university staff at the third phase of th program implementation.
