University Industry Linkage and Community Service (UILCS) Office
Duties and responsibilities of the office:
- Disseminates strategic issues related to research and community services to varies university staff
- Creates a substantial connection between university and industry/community based education/internship, contractual applied research and knowledge and technology transfer
- Create a bridge of link and supports the establishment of links between the university and external agencies and harmonizing the integration of mutual operations of the parties
- Directs funding of research costs through contracts and grants
- Prepares and coordinates formal licensing to Industry University owned patents and technology
- Promote and develop University-industry exchange programs and student internship
- Support and coordinate the continuing education and training of professionals through various programs (summer, extension, weekend, distance) and community services
- Coordinate the collaborative research projects
- Develop and maintain a consistent approach to research and community services contractual matters within the University
- Support departments/colleges/institutes involved in negotiations and contractual arrangements
- Protects interests of staff and the University regarding professional liability and intellectual property rights
- Maintains up to date records of contractual work and funded projects at the University
- Promotes University/industry – linked research projects
- Organize lecture, seminars, workshops, symposia and educational trips for communicating outreach-related professional development
- Provides a point of contact for departments/colleges/institutes and centers, staff, students, and community
- Supports in liaising practical training(PT} coordination with industries for undergraduate students to get appropriate periods PT placement annually and also upgrading Internship and CBE based projects into research grant proposals
- Maps SME and identify their technological strength and weakness, and address their problems through business/technology incubation project
- Conducts employer/graduate periodical surveys to support and establish needs in curriculum review
